Apply to Fall 2020 - Spring 2021 YEP by FRI., Sept. 25! Hello!
My name is Ying and I'm the Youth Organizer at MinKwon. Applications for Fall/Spring Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) are available now until this Friday. Open to all high school youth of color, please spread the word to your family and loved ones!
We're looking for APA and immigrant high school youth who're interested in learning about issues that impact their community and creating positive social change. YEP members deepen their political education and develop their skills in leadership, public speaking, and outreach to create and lead their own social and political campaigns. This year we're running our program with two commitment levels: - Members will meet 1x a week for 2-hour interactive workshops around social issues and outreach activities. Members will work on a campaign of their choosing to push for social and economic justice in Queens.
- Organizing Committee will meet 2x a week for 1-hour workshops. Our OC works on MinKwon's campaigns for housing justice, especially against Flushing rezoning. We recommend high school youth based in Flushing and youth who can make a greater commitment to apply. Check out @protectflushing on Instagram to learn more.
